Mt. 11:28-30
There is a good story about a father and his son. One day his son volunteered to help him in the farm. The father asked him to bring a stone enough for a kingpost foundation as they were building a shed in the area. From the distance, the father saw his son moving a rock. Use more strength, son, said the father. Yes, I will. But still the son could not move the rock. Did you use all your resources for you to have the rock brought up here? Yes dad, the boy answered. No, you didn’t, the father said, you did not ask help from me as he smiled looking at his son. The two of them brought the rock and put it where it was intended.
Most often we think that we can solve our problems by ourselves, that we don’t need the help of others. But experience tells us that most problems are overcome because somebody is helping us. Yes, that somebody could be our family, our friends or a member of our group, and from our BEC circle of families. But most of all, it is the grace of God that keeps us strong in the face of the problems.
The invitation of God is very clear in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” This is the assurance that God will never leave us. Yes, we always have a problem but we have to remember that God’s grace is always upon us. God is here. Feel his presence. Just ask for his help. Pray always for God’s grace and all will be well.
